Evidence note
The rendered production dashboard and source contract were audited: backend/stale references exist, but no supported customer UI does.

What this does

Do not rely on a hidden or historical control as a supported way to test publication.

Before you begin

  • There is no rendered Dry Run button in the current customer dashboard.
  • A code path or old help instruction is not a supported customer workflow.

What changes outside ArtDrop

Reading this page has no effect. Do not call internal Dry Run endpoints. Historical Dry Run behavior was intended to block normal file/publish writes but could still analyze or use Copy Engine allowance/provider-billed services.

Steps

  1. Treat the feature as unavailable

If the current UI does not present Dry Run, do not tell a customer to start it through a URL, developer console, or stale Start Worker control.

  2. Choose a supported safety path

For the narrow Gelato v2 to Shopify route, use Review & Publish. For other routes, use one controlled non-sensitive artwork and a test store/provider configuration, knowing it can create real records.

  3. Verify before cleanup

Inspect provider/store results, then remove test objects in the services that own them.

Expected result

No supported customer action is labeled Dry Run; testing uses an explicit Review hold where supported or a controlled real pipeline with cleanup.

Limits and non-goals

  • Do not claim Dry Run is free, offline, no-cost, or incapable of upstream analysis usage.
  • Do not confuse the three-drop demo with a sandbox; demo drops can create real products with watermarked images.

Troubleshooting

  • If old documentation exposes a Dry Run button or Start Worker instruction, report the page as stale and follow the current dashboard.

How to undo or clean up

There is nothing to undo from reading this status. Clean up any controlled real test in its provider and storefront.
