Edit a live Shopify product

Load a product from the selected store, prepare changed copy, and save only after reviewing the external write.

Store pinning, changed-field writes, regeneration, description conversion, and mobile layout have focused tests. A final real Shopify Save was not repeated for certification.

What this does

Load a product from the selected store, prepare changed copy, and save only after reviewing the external write.

Before you begin

  • Select the intended Shopify store before opening Products.
  • Keep a copy of rich description formatting if you might need to restore it in Shopify.

What changes outside ArtDrop

Save immediately updates only explicitly changed fields on the pinned live Shopify product. Regenerate creates a local draft and does not write until Save.

Steps

  1. Load the product

    Open Products. ArtDrop loads up to the newest 50 products from the active Shopify store and pins each loaded record to that store.

  2. Edit supported fields

    Change Title, Description, Tags, SEO Title, or SEO Description. These are Shopify listing fields; editing them does not change a print provider's product metadata.

  3. Generate a draft if needed

    Choose Regenerate, inspect the replacement copy, and correct it. Source artwork must still be available in the archive.

  4. Save explicitly

    Review the store and changed fields, then choose Save. Switching stores in another tab cannot redirect the pinned write.

Expected result

Shopify returns the updated product and the editor baseline matches the saved values.

Limits and non-goals

  • Editing Description converts it to safe plain-text paragraphs and line breaks; existing rich formatting can be replaced.
  • There is no product delete action in this screen.

Troubleshooting

  • If Save fails, verify Shopify access and the pinned store before retrying.
  • If the product is not in the newest 50, edit it in Shopify.

How to undo or clean up

Edit again in ArtDrop or Shopify. Restore rich formatting in Shopify from your saved copy if needed.
