Choose generated or seller-written product copy
AI can draft a title, description, SEO title, SEO description, and alt text. It does not draft the product tag list used by normal drops. Tags are assembled separately from saved base, line, provider, analyzed-image metadata, and per-image product_tags values.

What this does
AI can draft a title, description, SEO title, SEO description, and alt text. It does not draft the product tag list used by normal drops. Tags are assembled separately from saved base, line, provider, analyzed-image metadata, and per-image product_tags values.
Before you begin
- Choose generated modes only when a personal Anthropic key is saved. Mac requires one. The Web worker supports managed copy, but the current first-run validator still blocks generated modes without a personal key.
- Seller-written values can come from filename or template modes, a CSV or XLSX sheet, or per-image JSON. Products edits existing Shopify or Etsy storefront records and is separate from normal drop copy inputs.
What changes outside ArtDrop
A normal drop does not pause for copy approval. When AI is skipped, seller modes are applied to fallback metadata. If the first AI analysis stage fails after AI starts, the function returns fallback metadata before applying those modes, so literal seller values can be lost.
Steps
-
Choose each field's mode
Use AI, blank, filename, or template where the field supports it. SEO title and alt text can copy the title; SEO description can copy the description.
-
Save and test a personal key
Use the key test before a generated drop. Fresh Web setup currently requires a personal key or manual modes even when managed execution is available later.
-
Set persistent tags separately
Use base tags, product-line tags, provider tags, image-derived tags, or the per-image product_tags field. Do not expect AI copy output to supply the normal product tag list.
-
Regenerate an existing product separately
In Products, Regenerate rereads the artwork bound to that exact product and fills unsaved copy fields for review. Managed mode uses one ArtDrop copy credit; a personal Anthropic key uses that provider key. Regenerate is a discrete action, not chat, and it does not generate the normal product tag list.
-
Inspect the external result
Copy Log copies the displayed Live Log lines; it does not show a draft-copy buffer. Inspect title and copy in the exact provider or storefront record.
Expected result
A normal drop contains generated or seller-written copy while its tags come from separate configured and analyzed metadata sources. In Products, a Regenerate result remains unsaved until you review and save it to the selected storefront.
Good to know
- The generated-copy response requires description, SEO title, SEO description, and alt text. Normal drop tags are assembled elsewhere.
- All current Voice endpoints and fresh generated-copy setup require a saved personal Anthropic key, including on Web.
- A first-stage AI failure can bypass seller-written modes. Inspect the result for fallback or blank values.
Troubleshooting
- Fresh Web setup says managed copy needs no key but will not continue? Choose manual modes or save a personal Anthropic key. The validator does not consult managed-copy availability.
- Seller value disappeared after an AI error? Inspect the named external record before retrying. Stage 1 returns before applying literal modes.
How to undo or clean up
Change future field modes or tags in Copy and product-line settings. Edit an existing external product in the service that owns it.
