What this does

Choose managed Web copy, your own provider key, or supplied copy without turning a configurable allowance into an unlimited claim.

Before you begin

  • Decide whether generated copy is appropriate for this store and who should pay for upstream usage.
  • Review every generated field for accuracy, rights, prohibited wording, and store voice.

What changes outside ArtDrop

Managed or personal-key generation can call analysis/copy services. Managed mode can consume ArtDrop allowance; personal-key mode is billed by the key provider. Turning copy off avoids generation but does not prevent publishing.

Copy Engine settings. Choose generated or supplied copy deliberately, then review credits or personal-key use, spreadsheet behavior, and camera-data handling.

Steps

  1. Choose generated or supplied copy

Open Setup → 4 Copy or Copy and Data. Under ArtDrop Generated Copy choose Yes for generation or No to use sheet/sidecar/filename-based values.

  2. Choose the billing path

On Web, use the managed allowance shown in the current UI or open Advanced and enter your own key. Current Mac UI requires a personal key. Do not publish numeric allowances or pack prices without checking the live account.

  3. Set store rules

Select the intended store, review Store Identity, voice, examples, never-use rules, intros, tags, and any product-line changes.

  4. Inspect the result

Use Copy Log and the resulting draft/listing. Correct invented facts, unsupported claims, duplicate phrasing, or restricted terms before reuse.

Expected result

Copy uses the selected store context and the account shows either one metered managed drop or personal-key usage outside ArtDrop credits.

Limits and non-goals

  • A drop is metered once even if internal generation has multiple passes, but production allowances are configurable.
  • Shopify-billed sessions cannot buy direct Stripe copy-credit packs.

Troubleshooting

  • For an upstream failure, save the exact provider message and retry once only if no external publish outcome is unknown.
  • If a personal key is rejected, revoke or replace it in the provider account rather than sharing it with support.

How to undo or clean up

Regenerate before saving when a draft is wrong. For live Shopify fields, edit again in ArtDrop or Shopify; generation itself is not an undo for a published product.
