Prepare artwork for print
Choose a sharp, high-resolution artwork file, check its color and transparency, and preview how it fits the products you want to sell.
Before you begin
- Keep your original artwork and a backup.
- Check the print size and resolution recommended by your provider.
How it works
ArtDrop places your artwork into the saved product templates. The quality of the original file determines how much detail the finished print can show.
Steps

Export a supported file
Use PNG, JPG, JPEG, TIF, or TIFF. Choose the highest-resolution source you have.

Check size and detail
Compare the image’s pixel dimensions with your print provider’s recommendation. Changing a DPI label alone does not add detail.

Check color and transparency
Use the color profile your provider recommends. Preview transparent edges on both light and dark backgrounds.

Give it a clear filename
Use a recognizable name. If you supply a copy sheet or JSON file, match that name to the artwork.

Upload and preview
Drop the artwork into ArtDrop, then check the placement and crop in the resulting product before releasing a collection.
Expected result
Your products use an artwork file that has the detail, color, and transparency you intended.
Good to know
- An upload can contain up to 200 files and 3 GiB in total. Each artwork can be up to 2 GiB. Storage services and providers can have lower limits.
- Upload the original file for the best resolution; copying and pasting from another app can reduce image quality.
- For supported Printify fabric products, ArtDrop can create a Mirror repeat from your artwork.
- Order a sample to check physical color and print quality.
Troubleshooting
- The print looks soft? Export more pixels from the original artwork or choose a smaller print size.
- The crop is wrong? Adjust the artwork placement in the saved product template.
How to undo or clean up
Update your artwork or product template before the next drop. Change existing products in your storefront or print provider.
